On Saturday, US Special Envoy David Satterfield stated that US authorities had not been informed that Hamas is obstructing or diverting humanitarian supplies pouring into the Gaza Strip, which is suffering from a lack of food, medication, and fuel.
Speaking to reporters in Amman, Jordan, he stated that those distributing relief in Gaza had not noticed any aid being diverted since trucks started entering the Egypt-controlled Rafah barrier on Oct. 21 amid diplomatic squabbling.
Those in charge of help “do not report to us in this 10 day, 12 day period of assistance delivery, interdiction of or seizure of goods by Hamas,” he added.
According to Satterfield, between 800,000 and a million people have relocated to the Gaza Strip’s south, while 350,000-400,000 people remain in the enclave’s north.
