DeSantis may challenge Trump in 2024.
Politico reports that Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida has not approached former President Donald Trump about endorsing him for re-election in 2022. DeSantis is running for re-election in Florida.
In November, at the age of 43, Republican DeSantis will be campaigning for re-election in Florida. DeSantis enjoys widespread support among his party’s base. Some people might see the fact that Governor DeSantis does not want to secure the support of President Trump in 2024 as an attempt on his part to exercise influence on the person who will succeed Trump in office.
DeSantis has been evasive in response to the question of whether or not he intends to run for president in 2024, and this is the case regardless of whether or not Trump is a candidate. However, the fact that he won the 2024 straw poll at the annual Western Conservative Summit, which took place in Colorado at the beginning of June, raised a few eyebrows.
In the informal poll, Republican voters in Florida favored Republican DeSantis over Donald Trump by a margin of 71 percent to 67 percent. The participants in the straw poll were allowed to express their support for multiple candidates at the same time through the utilization of an approved voting method.
