While waiting for authorities to arrive to arrest him, a man in Ohio was suspended “20 feet off the ground” in a vehicle he reportedly tried to steal from a wrecking yard.
Akron police bodycam footage shows the SUV still hanging in the air before being gently lowered so officers could catch the perpetrator.
One of the policemen could be heard asking, “What’s your name, man?”
“None of your business, bro,” the handcuffed guy said.
When notified he was being arrested, the suspect questioned for what and stated that he was fleeing someone.
The officer who captured the clip then went to speak with employees at the firm, which was named Arlington Auto Wrecking by local TV station WOIO, and the man who rapidly moved the loader to detain the suspect claimed, “This car’s bouncing, getting ready to flip off the forklift.”
WOIO also obtained the 911 call.
“So, he’s still in the car, about 20 feet in the air in the loader,” the dispatcher was informed by the business employee.
“Wonderful, that is the greatest thing I’ve ever heard,” the 911 operator claimed to have responded, laughing. “We will get somebody out to you.”
According to business employees, this is the third occurrence involving the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Alexander Funk, but it is the first time he has been apprehended.
The Akron Police Department footage, dated Oct. 17, shows police at the jail thereafter discussing what transpired.
“He broke into a car at the junkyard, and before he could get out, he’s done it before, they got like a forklift, and they had him, I’m not kidding, like 20 feet off the ground, so when we got there he went right into custody,” the police officer stated with a laugh.
Funk was reportedly charged with criminal trespassing and criminal tool possession.
