If you’re interested in a vacation full of art and culture, you could hit up St. Petersburg. There are a few museums for art lovers and the botanical gardens are there for those who prefer nature.

There’s an aquarium and children’s museum as well. Are you in the mood for adventure? Try ziplining above a nature reserve!

2. A Wisconsin Retreat

If you want to dive into the snowy retreat, try finding cabins for rent in Wisconsin! Wisconson is great in the wintertime for cross-country skiing, snowboarding, and show-shoeing.

Wisconson is home to a ton of resorts that are perfect for a group or a solo adventure.

If you’re feeling adventurous, explore the ice caves of the Apostles. Wisconsin is an ideal location for a winter getaway, especially if you’re hoping to spend lots of time outside. The views are unbeatable.

3. Snowy Mountains of Colorado

Breckenridge Colorado sits 9,600 feet above sea level, making it one of the highest resort areas in the state. Every year, Breckenridge gets 300 inches of snow.

If you’re looking for a place to ski and snowboard, this is your place. You can also go biking, hiking, dog sledding, whitewater rafting, and go on various historic tours.

There’s something to do for kids of all ages in this quaint town.

You could also head to Aspen to get reconnected with nature. Ski-lovers will meet their match with the Highland Bowl, which is 12,392 feet.

4. Jasper National Park, Canada

The largest national park in the Canadian Rockies is Jasper National Park. Its 11,000 square kilometers feature endless wilderness and a wide variety of wildlife.

It’s a sight to behold at any time of the year, but if you want to see it at its peak, visit it in the winter. It gets covered in snow that would make even the most hardened of snowbirds melt.

There are several destination camping sites there for you to explore. You could also camp on your own if you’re feeling adventurous.

5. The Adirondacks

Another great spot for a winter vacation is the snow-covered mountains of the Adirondacks! There are a ton of white trails and frozen lakes that make the Adirondacks a great place to take the whole family on vacation.

The Adirondacks often have winter carnivals as well. You can try dog sledding, bobsledding, or giving luging a try.

Tobogganing is another popular pastime in the Adirondacks. You can glide over Mirror Lake on a toboggan if you’re interested in an adventure.

The Adirondacks offer various lodgings as well. You could stay at a huge, all-inclusive resort or go for something smaller, like a cabin. You could also try backpacking if you’re adventurous and experienced.

6. The Great Smoky Mountains

Gatlinburg, Tennessee is another vacation spot that’s perfect no matter what time of year you go. But in the winter, there are loads of seasonal activities for you to take advantage of that are great for the whole family.

Winterfest, the Great Smoky Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts snow, and the Festival of Trees are all great options. You could also check out the Fantasy of Lights Christmas Parade or the New Year’s Eve Ball Drop depending on what time you want to visit.

The streets of Gatlinburg are filled with decorative floats, balloons, dancers, marching bands, and holiday characters at the beginning of December.

Pick a place in the mountains and enjoy the morning views while you sip coffee on the deck. There’s no better winter getaway.

7. Head to the Bahamas

Another great place to go if you’re in the mood to warm up is the Bahamas. The Bahamas is one of the best places to vacation in the entire world. During the winter, you can expect the weather to stick to around 70 degrees.

If you want to beat the snow, the Bahamas should be your first stop.

You can swim with the dolphins, explore different shipwrecks, check out the coral reef, or watch as schools of fish pass you by in the crystal clear water.

There are locations that you can bowl, go horseback riding, and experience the culture of the Bahamas. You can make this an educational trip as well!

You can go diving, sightseeing, and visit various nature parks. Or, if you want to stay inside and beat the heat, there are tons of live tours and fun activities for the whole family.
