Here’s why you should plan a trip to Tanzania:

1. Ascend Mount Kilimanjaro

It’s no surprise that one of the biggest attractions in Tanzania is Mount Kilimanjaro.

This is a dormant volcano and is also the highest free-standing volcano on Earth. It’s 19,341 feet above sea level!

It’s one thing to see it in photos and another to be in awe of its beauty when you see it up close. Ascending the mountain with a guided tour will truly be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.

2. Animal Migration

One of the greatest events that you’ll witness if you visit Tanzania is the animal migration — including the Great Wildebeest Migration.

The best time to visit Tanzania is between April and May. This is where you’ll see over 1 million wildebeests, antelopes, and zebras traverse from Tanzania to Kenya’s Maasai Mara region.

You’ll also see predators chasing after their prey. You’ll see lions and leopards chasing after other animals as they traverse the lands.

This is one of the most fascinating things that you’ll witness so you’ll want to take a few cameras along! You can arrange for a safari tour to take you along to witness the migration.

3. Serengeti National Park

If you’re a nature lover, then you’ve got to visit the Serengeti National Park on your trip to Tanzania.

You’ll arrange a safari tour and in some cases, you can even camp at the Serengeti. You’ll see the largest and most diverse variety of animals at the Serengeti.

You’ll spot thousands of lions, elephants, zebras, leopards, cheetahs, hippos, and rhinos throughout this vast land. Serengeti translates to the “land that lasts forever” and you’ll feel a great sense of serenity when you explore it.

4. Meet the Maasai

The Maasai is one of the oldest tribes living throughout East Africa. They have an ancient culture and have maintained their traditions.

The Maasai are open to meeting outsiders so you can arrange a tour to meet them. You’ll have an interpreter who’ll help you communicate with them.

You’ll learn about their culture, traditions, and perspectives on life. You’ll also get to experience becoming a Maasai for the day! Be prepared to dress up in their clothes, learn a bit of their language, and attempt to jump as high as you can!

5. Relax and Party on the Beach

The beaches of Miami and the Caribbean can’t compare to the majesty of Tanzania’s beaches!

Tanzania consists of mainland Tanganyika and the island of Zanzibar. When you visit Tanzania, you’ll likely spend much of your time on the mainland.

However, you should spend a day or two in Zanzibar to relax on the beach. You’ll love the crisp white sand and the turquoise blue of the Indian Ocean. The waters are calmer compared to the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and are also much warmer.

The beaches are great for getting away from the chaos that you’ll find in Tanzania’s larger cities. It’s also a great way to bond with your fellow travelers. The beaches are also great for making friends with other travelers and locals alike.

At night, many beaches go from a relaxed vibe to a party vibe! You’ll enjoy listening to live music and dancing.

6. Visit Stone Town

Stone Town is one of Africa’s oldest cities and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

It’s located in Zanzibar and is often mistaken for the capital due to its classic architecture and fast-paced vibe.

You’ll see the House of Wonders, Old Fort, the Palace Museum, and a few churches. It has a rustic charm that’ll make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

At the same time, it’s often frequented by locals and tourists that it still has the same energy today as it had a century ago. It gives you a glimpse of what living in Africa used to be like.

7. Visit Dar es-Salaam

Of course, you can’t plan a trip to Tanzania without visiting its most exciting city Dar es-Salaam. It’s so popular amongst travelers that many mistake it for the country’s capital.

Dar es-Salaam is one of Africa’s most vibrant cities and it’s likely to become one of the future megacities that’ll rival New York, London, or Shanghai.

Here, you’ll see where Tanzania and Africa, as a whole, are heading. You’ll see that the future is bright and that Tanzania is a future land of opportunity.

Dar es-Salaam is great for restaurants, bars, and nightlife. It’s also great for shopping, creating media, and living a great life. Many Tanzanians emigrate to Dar es-Salaam in hopes of a better life.

Many immigrants and expats alike find Dar es-Salaam to be a city that offers a great quality of life and lots of opportunities. Most travelers visit Africa to see the incredible nature and Old World charm.

While you should definitely experience these things, it’s also fascinating to get a glimpse of modern Africa.

The continent is going to play a bigger role in the future of the global economy. Tanzania will be at the helm of this development and now’s the best time to visit Dar es-Salaam!
