Bankruptcy Filling
On July 13, 2015, the Wall Street Journal said that 50 Cent had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Since 50 of them live in Connecticut, the bankruptcy was filed in Hartford, where the US bankruptcy court is.
50 Cent lived in Mike Tyson’s old mansion at 50 Poplar Hill Dr., Farmington, CT 06032, when the lawsuit was filed. 50 Cent wrote on the paperwork that the value of his assets was between $10 million and $50 million. He said that the number of his debts was the same.
The lawsuit was filed a few days after a jury told 50 to pay Rick Ross’s ex-girlfriend Lavonia Leviston $5 million because he put her on a sex tape that he released on purpose. The judge gave her $2.5 million because someone used her picture without permission and another $2.5 million. After all, it hurt her emotions. In that case, the judge also told Mr. Jackson that he needed to show proof of his income and wealth so that the jury could decide on more punitive damages.
In a case involving an ex-partner in a headphone company that happened about a year before, a different judge had told 50 to pay $17.5 million for trademark infringement. Before punitive damages were added to the sex tape case, he could have been fined up to $22.5 million.
