Barcelona has officially announced that Lamine Yamal will wear the iconic number 10 for the 2025/26 season.
This follows his spectacular breakthrough season, where he scored 18 goals and provided 25 assists and helped Barça win a domestic treble: LaLiga, Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa.
In May, Yamal signed a contract extension, committing his future to Barcelona until 2031.
He now joins a legendary lineage: Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho, Diego Maradona, and Rivaldo, players who made the No. 10 jersey unforgettable.
The last player to wear it was Ansu Fati, who took over from Messi in 2021. But after injuries and a loan move to Monaco, the stage is now set for Yamal to step into the spotlight.
At the jersey presentation event held at the Spotify Camp Nou club shop, Yamal said:
“Messi made his path, and I will make mine. I try to continue that legacy. My dream was always to play for Barça and wear the number 10.”

At just 18, Yamal is already a Ballon d’Or contender, and he’s just getting started. He told the press during his jersey presentation that his goals for next season are clear: win the Champions League with Barça and the World Cup with Spain.
Lamine Yamal is more than just Barcelona’s new number 10, but the face of their future.
Already rewriting records and carrying the hopes of a club and a nation, the question remains: Will he live up to the legacy of Messi, Ronaldinho, and Maradona?
