During the 1980s, Tina Turner made a comeback in the music industry. Her album “Private Dancer,” released in 1984, was a massive hit. It included the famous song “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” which secured the Grammy Award for Record of the Year and became her sole number-one song on the Billboard Hot 100. At age 44, Tina Turner became the oldest female solo artist to achieve this feat. Turner’s chart-topping hits continued with “Better Be Good to Me,” “We Don’t Need Another Hero (Thunderdome),” “Private Dancer,” “Typical Male,” “I Don’t Wanna Fight,” “GoldenEye.”, and “The Best.” On her 1988 Break Every Rule World Tour, Tina Turner set a Guinness World Record for the largest paying audience of a solo performer, with 180,000 attendees.

Later, it was adapted into the 1993 film What’s Love Got to Do with It. In 2009, Turner concluded her Tina!: 50th Anniversary Tour, the 15th highest-grossing tour of the 2000s. The jukebox musical Tina, released in 2018, centers around her life.

During the late 1950s, Tina had a romantic relationship with Raymond Hill, the saxophonist for Kings of Rhythm. This occurred while Tina was still in high school. Tina became pregnant with Raymond’s child during her senior year, and their son, Craig, was born in 1958. However, the couple had already broken up before the baby was born.

In 1962, Tina married her musical companion, Ike Turner. Two years earlier, they had a son named Ronnie. Together, Ronnie, Craig, and Ike’s two sons from a prior relationship were reared. Tina filed for divorce from Ike on March 29, 1978, citing irreconcilable differences. The divorce was formalized on March 29, 1978. Ronnie passed away in December 2022 from colon cancer.
