While in college, Joe Han met Mike Shinda, joined his band Xero, and released its self-titled demo album in 1997. In 1999, the band changed their name to Hybrid Theory and dropped their EP, which was the same name as the band. They later changed their name to Linkin Park during the recording session of Hybrid Theory.
