When asked about another White House candidacy, Tim Scott said on Fox News, ‘You know, ’28’s not that far away.’
Manchester, New Hampshire, Sen. Tim Scott says being Donald Trump’s running mate in November if the former president gets the 2024 Republican nomination is “not on my mind.”
However, the South Carolina Republican congressman is not ruling out another run for the White House or Senate re-election in 2028.
Although his presidential candidacy collapsed, Scott remains popular among Republican primary voters, and the other GOP candidates desired his endorsement.
Scott flew to New Hampshire on Friday to formally support Trump, the Republican front-runner in his third presidential campaign.
The senator made a second trip to New Hampshire on Monday and Tuesday to continue her campaign for Trump, who defeated his main challenger for the nomination, former South Carolina governor and U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, by a margin of 11 points in the primary.
The next big Republican primary is scheduled on February 24 in Haley and Scott’s home state, where the GOP nomination contest is now expected to take place.
“I want to spend as much time as possible at home. a long time traveling the vast Palmetto State in support of the campaign. a lot of time discussing why we ought to keep Donald Trump in office for four more years,” Scott stated on Tuesday during an interview with Fox News Digital.
“In my opinion, the faster we coalesce around Donald Trump, the better the country will be.”

The senator’s support for Trump and his alliance with him have increased conjecture that Scott would be the former president’s running mate.
Scott, though, affirmed that it’s “still not on my mind.”
“Making sure President Trump becomes our next president is all that’s on my mind. reducing inflation once more. bringing the cost of gas back down. lowering the price of food, raising the national spirit, and enforcing more law and order,” he continued.
Rejecting thoughts of a running buddy, Scott withdrew from the race two months ago.
However, if Trump secures the nomination in the coming weeks, Scott hasn’t ruled out running for vice president, according to a source close to the senator’s campaign, who spoke to Fox News on Saturday.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if Scott remains in the conversation for running mate,” said a source.
During his interview with Fox News Digital, Scott did not rule out a second presidential bid.
“You know, 28 days isn’t all that far off. Making sure we succeed in ’24 will allow us to observe what transpires,” he remarked.
Following his resounding victory in 2022, Scott declared that it will be his final Senate campaign.
However, Scott, the lone Black Republican in the Senate, stated on Fox News on Tuesday that “many South Carolinians ask me to reconsider and run again. They say this every day.” Thus, in the future, you must pay attention to your voters. We’ll watch and see.”
