The main objective of families who want to make a move is to make it quick and easy and have as few complications as possible. That is why in this article, we’ll leave some basic tips if you’re moving by yourself or through one of the cross country moving services online or in your locality.

Is There a Better Day and Time to Move?

The answer is no. A move, when put in the hands of professionals, will normally be carried out successfully. Since they will adapt to the needs of their clients and advise on the best methods to move.

However, the move will always depend on the clients. In case of moving during the week, it is advisable to do it in the middle of the morning since the traffic is less then. If it is held on a weekend, the ideal would be to do it first thing on Saturday.

Moving during the week or on the weekend?

As we have indicated, everything will depend on the needs and employment situation. Below are what to expect during each day of the week:

  1. Monday: Monday is a great day to move as you avoid high-demand days like Fridays and Sundays, the day before.
  2. Tuesday: Not many people move on Tuesday, so this is the best day to move.
  3. Wednesday: You may get a better price by booking this day with a moving service as it’s not popular with house movers.
  4. Thursday: Although Thursday is a high-traffic day. Getting a moving van is easier and cheaper on this day.
  5. Friday: Friday is a busy day for movers as most people work from Monday to Thursday. So you may get a higher bill.
  6. Saturday: Moving on Saturday is not advisable except if you do it very early.
  7. Sunday: Sundays are busy days for moving because everyone is in a rush for the next work day.

Meanwhile, if you work full-time during the week and your time availability is limited, we advise you to make a move on the weekend. And more specifically, on Saturday, since if you need to buy any last-minute moving material, it will be easier for you to acquire it. On Fridays and Sundays, moving services are usually more expensive, with higher traffic.

If you have more free time during the week, we recommend moving on Tuesday or Wednesday. These are the quietest days of the week, so it will be easier to organize the move. By the way, note that Thursday is the worst day of the week for traffic.

What Months Are Recommended to Move?

There are months in which it is not advisable to make a move. And these months are the summer, the first and last months of the year. In these months, prices are higher, and the traffic is much higher.

In addition to the weather being usually very hot, in summer, the heat can cause more fatigue than what a move already brings. And in winter, the probability of rain increases. Driving on snowy and icy days will also be difficult and may increase your moving cost.

It would be advisable that you’re on vacation or leave when you make a move. Because it will be much easier for you. That is why, if you have a chance, ask for a few days of leave for it. And don’t wait for the summer vacation.

In short, the best months to move are February, April, and October. In addition, the first and middle of the month are also the best times to make your move.

Conclusion

We have given you some tips and recommendations which you should consider if you decide to move by yourself or through a moving service. If you want to put yourself in the hands of professionals, you can find a moving service near you.

And don’t forget… Always choose the day of the move that best suits your time availability!
