Arsenal are enjoying an incredible season in the Premier League. Mikel Arteta’s side are close to making history by wining their first Premier League title in 19 years.
One player who has stood up for Mikel Arteta’s side with his consistent and exceptional performance is England international Bukayo Saka. The Arsenal forward has been involved in everything good about Arsenal this season.
Bukayo Saka has scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in all competitions for Arsenal this season. Saka has been tipped to win the PFA young player of the Year and Premier League young player of the Season and possibly challenge Erling Haaland for the PFA and Premier League Player of the Season.
Manchester United and Premier League legend Wayne Rooney has hailed Bukayo Saka and claims he has been Arsenal’s player of the season.
What did Wayne Rooney say?
Wayne Rooney revealed via The Times: “Saka has impressed me most. He’s only 21 but has 13 goals and 11 assists this season. For a young player, playing out wide, that output is really good.
“We saw him, Emile Smith-Rowe, and a couple of others come through from Arsenal’s academy at the same time and he’s the one who has been consistently able to deal with the expectation and perform. Now he’s Arsenal’s best player.
“When he missed the penalty against West Ham I was surprised he took it in the first place — I thought it should have been Jesus — but having bounced back from missing one in the shoot-out at the Euro 2020 final, he has shown his character. I have no doubt he will recover mentally from the setback.”
Bukayo Saka missed a penalty in Arsenal’s 2-2 draw with West Ham. Arsenal would have increased the goal difference to two if the England international had converted the penalty.
However, Wayne Rooney has insisted that he will always support Bukayo Saka to be the number one penalty-taker for Arsenal.
He added: “Yes. If not, I will go on the pitch and throw him the ball and make sure he will take the next one.
