Authorities identify MS-13 high-ranking leader Cesar Humberto Lopez-Larios.
After more than three years on the run from law enforcement, a high-ranking member of the infamous MS-13 criminal gang, which is known for “spilling so much blood” and transforming towns in New York into “war zones,” was apprehended in Texas over the weekend, according to officials Tuesday.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office Eastern District of New York, Cesar Humberto Lopez-Larios was taken into custody by the FBI and Homeland Security Investigations on Sunday following his arrival at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport.
“The arrest of Lopez-Larios, who is one of the most senior leaders of MS-13 in the world, is a significant achievement for law enforcement and another crucial step in the dismantling of this international criminal enterprise,” Breon Peace, the United States Attorney, stated.
Lopez-Larios, also referred to as “Grenas de Stoners” and “Oso de Stoners,” was accused of conspiring to finance terrorism, narco-terrorism, offer and conceal material assistance to terrorists, and commit acts of terrorism across international borders.
