It has been decided that London Breed, the current Mayor of San Francisco, will be in charge of the search for a new District Attorney for the city.
The controversial District Attorney Chesa Boudin was the target of a recall campaign in San Francisco, and the primary focus of the campaign was his handling of the city’s steadily increasing crime statistics, which resulted in the people voting to remove him from office.
61 percent of San Francisco citizens voted to recall District Attorney Boudin, compared to 39 percent who wanted him to remain in office at the moment the race was called by the AP.
After being elected with 50.8% of the vote in 2019, Boudin took his oath of office as the 29th District Attorney of San Francisco on January 8, 2020.
