Viola Davis is a well-known American film actress and producer who was born on August 11, 1965, in St. Matthews, South Carolina, United States of America, under the zodiac sign Leo, with the nationality of American and of black ethnicity. The actress was born to Mary Alice Davis, a maid factory worker, and Civil Rights Movement activist, and his father Dan Davis, a horse trainer. She was born to her parents on her grandmother’s farm on the Singleton Plantation. Davis has five siblings, of which she is the second-youngest. She later began playing minor roles in numerous movies and television series in the late 1990s and 2000s before she was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Play in 2010 for her marvelous role as Tonya in the 2001 Broadway production of August Wilson’s King Hedley II. During that period, she appeared in films like “Out of Sight,” “Solaris,” “Traffic,” and “Syriana.” One of her notable roles came in 2002 with the film “Far From Heaven,” in which she played Sybil.
She rose to prominence, and her film breakthrough came with her role as a jittery mother in the 2008 drama Doubt, for which she earned her first Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress.
