Two men were arrested Sunday in Texas for human smuggling after multiple illegal immigrants were discovered in their vehicle following a high-speed chase.
For a traffic infraction in Uvalde County, a Texas DPS trooper sought to stop the driver of a white Hyundai.
A high-speed chase through Uvalde’s city streets resulted from the driver’s refusal to halt the car. In a press release, DPS stated that the driver’s top speed during the chase was 115 mph.
The neighborhood police department used the tire deflation tool to collapse the car’s two front tires and halt it. The trooper then took control of the car’s driver and passenger.
Three illegal aliens were found in the back seat of the car, and three more were found in the trunk, according to DPS. The six unauthorized aliens were handed up to the US Border Patrol.
The driver, Tyler Markel Washington, was accused of fleeing from authorities and smuggling people. The traveler, Jamail Williams-Thompson, was accused of smuggling people.
According to the Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division, Washington is a Houston-based member of the Pyro Bloods gang.
