Trevoh Chalobah played 90 minutes in Chelsea’s defeat to Arsenal at the Bridge. Chalobah has revealed that Graham Potter told them after the Arsenal defeat to not dwell on the result but focus on the games ahead.
What did Trevoh Chalobah say?
The 23-year-old said on Chelsea’s official website: “The manager said to us in the dressing room afterward that we’ve got to pick our heads up and we can’t dwell on this result.
“We’ve got two big games now before the World Cup break and it’s really important we head into the break in a positive frame of mind.
“The Newcastle game in the Premier League next weekend is really important for us. It’s the final fixture before the World Cup break and we need to ensure we’re in a good position.”
The Chelsea academy graduate also added that they are disappointed and frustrated with the result.
He added: “We’re disappointed to lose the game, especially when we came into it on the back of a very good result and performance in the Champions League in the week.
“Coming into the game, all the boys were in a confident mood so to concede off a set piece is a killer for us and we’re really frustrated to lose a goal in that way.
“There are never any easy games at this level, you can get punished easily and a set-piece has cost us. I didn’t think there were too many chances in the game and we’ve just switched off at a set piece, which is really frustrating.
“I wouldn’t say there’s anything specific lacking from our performances but I think we can improve the final details.
“We’ll watch the game back, try and pinpoint the mistakes we made and ensure we fix them and find the right solutions going forward.”
The London derby victory against Chelsea was Mikel Arteta’s 150th game in charge of Arsenal, rating the progress of Arsenal under Arteta, Graham Potter said: “It’s not for me to say, it is up to you guys to make the assessments. A lot has happened. I’ve had a lot to deal with.
“I am sure if you look at the Arsenal story and where they are now from one year ago that there’s a difference. I am sure at times Mikel got pelters and that’s how it is – that’s the job and life and we have to deal with that.”
