Chelsea’s new owners have shown a strong statement of intent in the transfer market after hijacking Arsenal’s move for Raphinha with their €55 million offer for the Leeds attacker. Chelsea is yet to agree on a personal term with the Brazilian international.
Raphinha is one of the sought-after players in the transfer window this summer. The 25-year-old Brazilian international was key in Leed United’s survival in the Premier League last season. Chelsea is set to Barcelona and Arsenal for the Raphinha.
The Blues have also opened official talks with Manchester City for the transfer of Raheem Sterling and Nathan Ake.
Raheem Sterling is the third player to register 100 goals for Pep Guardiola along with Sergio Kun Aguero and Lionel Messi. the 27 years old English international has won four Premier League with Manchester City.
Manchester City is open to selling Raheem Sterling this summer if the right offer is received. The Citizens have placed a €60 million price tag on the English attacker.
Alex Crook believes Chelsea will sign Raheem Sterling before the transfer window closes.
What did Alex Crook say about the Chelsea transfer business?
Alex Crook said via talkSPORTS breakfast show: “It’s a fascinating situation at Chelsea.
“With the new owner coming in, Todd Boehly, pretty much making himself the de facto director of football… We’ve got to say [Boehly] is backing his manager.
“I think Raheem Sterling will be a Chelsea player in the not-too-distant future, making that move from Man City. They’re in for Nathan Ake too, another of Pep Guardiola’s title winners.
“We know that they’re keen on Matthijs de Ligt, and now this Raphinha deal has almost come from out of the blue. They’ve come in on the blind side, they’ve hijacked the Arsenal deal.
“I was worried for Chelsea because they’ve lost some key players, the likes of Antonio Rudiger, [Romelu] Lukaku going back to Inter Milan after a very disappointing return to English football.
“But, you have to say, if they get Raheem Sterling and Raphinha, those are two very exciting signings.”
Chelsea also reported negotiating with Juventus for Matthijs de Ligt after the Dutch international turned down Juventus’ new contract over the inclusion of a €120 million release clause.
The Blues have also opened talks with Seville for the €60 million transfer of French international Jules Koundé. Chelsea is currently facing strong competition for Barcelona. with the departure of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, Chelsea has only had two center-backs in their squad that is Thiago Silva and Trevoh Chalobah.
Chelsea finished third in the Premier League last season and needs to strengthen their squad for next season if they want to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League next season.
The Blues lost the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup to Liverpool but won the FIFA club world cup and the UEFA Super Cup.
Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea will begin pre-season on 2 July.
