Jack Teagarden was a renowned American jazz trombonist and singer. He was born on August 20, 1905, in Vernon, Texas, United States. His father, a brass band trumpeter, taught him how to play the baritone horn at a young age but switched to the trombone at age seven. Jack’s siblings Charlie, Clois” Cu,” and Norma were all musicians.

He began his professional career in 1920 in San Antonio. He joined BenPollack’ss band in 1928 when he moved to New York in 1927.

Teagarden’s career flourished in the 1930s and 1940s as he worked with some of the biggest names in jazz, including Louis Armstrong, Paul Whiteman, and Glenn Miller. His collaborations with Armstrong led to his joining Louis Armstrong’s All-Stars.

In 1939, Teagarden formed his own band. In 1951, he returned to smaller group performances, often reuniting with Armstrong and other jazz greats.

Teagarden was also a recording artist, leaving behind a rich discography that includes classics like”Big Jazz with Rex Stewart, “The Dixie Sound of Jack Teagarden,” The Swingin” Gate, “100 Years from Today,” and “Basin Street Blues.” His influence on jazz trombone is immeasurable, with many later musicians citing him as a primary influence.

Teagarden married four times during his life. His first marriage was to Ora Binyon in 1928, with whom he had two children. After their divorce in 1930, he married again to Claire Manzi from 1930 to 1939. His third marriage was to Billie Coates in 1938, and they divorced in 1941. His last marriage was to Adeline Barriere in 1942, with whom he had one child. They stayed married until his death on January 15, 1964, at the age of 58.

Today, August 20, 1923, in Galloway, Texas, famous American country and popular music singer and songwriter Jim Reeves was born to Thomas Middleton Reeves and Mary Beulah Adams Reeves.

Jim Reeves excelled in sports during high school and won an athletic scholarship to the University of Texas, but he dropped out just after six weeks to work in the shipyards in Houston.  He pursued a professional baseball career, signing with the St. Louis Cardinals, but was sidelined by an injury to his leg while a pitcher with the Houston Buffaloes.

Jim Reeves began his career as a radio announcer before embarking on his career in 1945. His career took a huge turn in 1953 when he signed with Abbott Records, where he released his first major hit, “Mexican Joe.”

He became popular not only in the United States but globally, with hits like “He’ll Have to Go,” “Welcome to My World,” and “Adios Amigo.” Reeves was also a songwriter and influenced the development of the country music genre.

During his career, Reeves received several awards, including posthumous inductions into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1967 and the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. His smooth voice and polished style influenced generations of country singers, and his music continues to be celebrated worldwide to the extent that the Academy of Country Music International Award to an artist is named after him.

Jim Reeves married Mary Elizabeth White on September 3, 1947. The couple shared a strong bond, and Mary played a crucial role in managing Reeves’s career. They did not have any children.

Reeves’s life was cut short when he died in a plane crash at the age of 40 on July 31, 1964

He was the long-time host of the ITV game show Bullseye, which he hosted from September 1981 to July 14, 1995. Born on August 20, 1937, James Bowen Whittaker was welcomed into the world by an unmarried mother whose name is unknown; however, nine months after his birth, he was adopted from an orphanage in Wirral by Joe Whittaker, a World War I veteran and his wife, Annie Whittaker. Jim was raised in Clayton-le-Moors, where he received his education at Accrington Grammar School but failed all but one of his O-levels. He later changed his birth name to James Whittaker, taking the name of his adopted parents.

Jim served in the Royal Army Ordinance Corps as an ammunition inspector from 1955 to 1957 with the rank of Corporal during his National Service. He started his career as a part-time stand-up comedian during the 1960s.

After working as a teacher, Jim made his first TV appearance in The Comedians (1971) and devoted himself to full comedy. Throughout his tenure, Jim appeared in episodes of numerous TV series such as You Must Be Joking!, Screenplay, Jonathan Creek, The Jim Davidson Show, Foxy Lady, News at Twelve, Muck and Brass,  Family Fortune, Phoenix Nights, Last of the Summer Wine, and The Afternoon Play. He also hosted BBC Radio Lancashire for three years and, later, a morning radio show in Cumbria into his later life.

With his successful career, Jim Bowen accumulated a huge fortune from his career. As of his death, he had a net worth of $3 million.

Jim was married to his colleague, Phyllis Owen, who supported him throughout his career. The couple had two children. Jim Bowen was affected by several strokes. In early 2011, he suffered two mild strokes but battled with them until he passed away on March 14, 2018, at Royal Lancaster Hospital. Jim Brown died at age 80.

Phil Lynott was an Irish musician, songwriter, and poet who etched his name into rock ‘n’ roll history. Born Philip Parries Lynott on August 20, 1949, in West Bromich, England, to an Irish mother, Philomena, and a Guyanese-British father, Cecil. Phil received his education training from the Moss Side neighborhood of Manchester. However, he was sent to live with his grandparents in Dublin, Ireland, due to racism in England and the fact that he was of mixed race. There, he furthered his education by attending the Christian Brothers School.

Phil became a household name as the co-founder, bassist, lead vocalist, and main songwriter of the rock band Thin Lizzy. He was recognized for his distinct pick-based bass approach and inventive, lyrical contributions, including working-class stories and many characters based on personal influences and Celtic culture.

Phil joined his first band, the Black Eagles, in 1965. He served as the lead vocalist of several bands, including Skid Row, before learning the bass guitar and forming Thin Lizzy in 1969. After achieving initial success with “Whiskey in the Jar,” the band had many hits in the mid-1970s, including “The Boys Are Back in Town,” “Jailbreak,” and “Waiting for an Alibi.” They became a popular live draw, combining Lynott’s singing and songwriting abilities with twin lead guitars. Phil launched a solo career around the end of the 1970s, publishing two books of poetry. After Thin Lizzy split up, he formed and fronted the band Grand Slam. With a successful and promising career, Phil had a net worth of $500 thousand at the time of his death.

Over the course of his career, Phil was affected by severe substance abuse, including alcohol and reliance on heroin. In 1985, he collapsed in his home on Christmas and was taken to the hospital by his wife. It was later disclosed that he was suffering from septicemia. His condition worsened over the next few days, and he was placed on a ventilator. On January 4, 1986, Phil died from the effects of septicemia.

He was married to Caroline Crowther, the daughter of comedian, actor, and television personality Leslie Crowther. They had two children, Sarah and Cathleen. However, their union landed on a rock, resulting in a divorce.
