His first criminal was recorded around 1880 when he broke into a shop and stole a pair of jeans and a pie. Butch Cassidy’s first bank robbery was on June 24, 1889, when he robbed the San Miguel Valley Bank in Telluride along with Warner and two of the McCarty brothers. Cassidy and his group were believed to have stored about $21,000.

Butch Cassidy, together with a friend of a criminal, formed the “Wild Bunch” and took leadership of the group following his release from prison in 1896. The group’s first bank robbery was on August 13, 1896, when it took around $7,000. His famous robbery was the Union Pacific train robbery in 1899. that earned him the reputation of the most notorious gangster at the time.

Cassidy, Harry Longabaugh, and Etta Place fled the United States to South America after being declared the most wanted criminal in the country by law enforcement, including the Pinkerton Detective Agency. 

The trio were believed to have been killed in Bolivia in a shootout with the Bolivian Army in November 1908. He passed on at the age of 42.

When World War II erupted in 1939, Harris was appointed to lead Bomber Command of the No. 5 Group RAF, tasked with conducting strategic bombing raids against Germany.

Arthur Harris married twice. First, he married Barbara Daisy Kyrle Money in 1916; they divorced in 1935. He married Therese Jillie Hearn again in 1938. Harris had three children. He held other notable positions in the Royal Air Force, including Deputy Chief of the Air Staff and Air Marshal.

Arthur Harris became Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath in 1945. He died at the age of 91 on April 5, 1984.
