Thomas Tuchel has reduced the Chelsea pre-season squad from 28 to 24 as the group continues with their pre-season tour in the US.
Chelsea initially took 29 men’s squad to their pre-season tour in the US only N’Golo Kante and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were left from the squad due to their Covid-19 vaccination status. In Thomas Tuchel’s latest squad update, The German tactician revealed that Tino Anjorin, Billy Gilmour, Harvey Vale, and Armando Broja have left the pre-season training camp.
Armando Broja and Tino Anjorin had flown to London while Harvey Vale and Billy Gilmour have joined the U-23 squad who are also on a pre-season tour in the US.
Reports are suggesting that West Ham had bid £30 million on Armando Broja but Thomas Tuchel has disclosed that the Albanian striker left for London because of injury.
What did Thomas Tuchel say?
Thomas Tuchel revealed via the Chelsea official website, saying: “I would have loved to have had everybody here.
“Tino, Harvey, and Billy had trained at a very high level and it would also have been nice to see them in some matches.
“But in the end, we had to decide to keep the quality high in training so we decided for 24 players as a maximum and that’s why we went a bit smaller.’”
Commenting on Armando Broja, The German tactician said: “Armando had to travel home, he had a little accident in training.
“He twisted his ankle and he needs further examinations and treatments in London.
“It did not make sense to just have him as an additional player because we need all capacities of treatment for the guys who are actually fit and on the pitch.
“So the best way for him to get the best treatment and as soon as possible back on the pitch was to leave for London.”
Chelsea will face Charlotte Fc on Thursday at the Bank of America Stadium.
There are rumors linking Christian Pulisic, Hakim Ziyech, and Callum Hudson-Odoi.
Meanwhile, Glen Johnson has urged Callum Hudson-Odoi to seek a move from Chelsea this summer.
In an interview with BettingOdds, the former England international said: “I’m not sure.
“He has spells where he looks unplayable and then he has days where it looks like he shouldn’t be playing in the Premier League.
“If he gets his head straight then I think he’s got a lot to offer but I think his days at Chelsea are over, to be honest. He’s still young but for me, he’s got a lot to learn.
“He needs to play football every week so to go somewhere like Newcastle where he’s being taken out of his comfort zone to focus on his football. Maybe Newcastle will get the best out of him.
“A loan move would possibly work if he goes somewhere to play every week. He’s got a lot to offer so Chelsea won’t want to give him up easily – that could be another one of those signings where they let him go and try and buy him back again for £100million in two years’ time.
“To let him go on a year’s loan, or even two years, to let him learn his trade where he’s playing every single week and then call him back is better than technically throwing everything away.”
Callum Hudson-Odoi was one of the brightest prospects in World football and will be seeking to regain his form after spending most of last season injured.
