There are rumors that Leicester City is asking for the same fees Manchester United paid to sign Harry Maguire which is £85 million. The blues are also interested in Gabonese international and Barcelona forward Pierre Emerick-Aubaneyang.
Despite Chelsea beating Everton, Thomas Tuchel indicated that Chelsea is still working to add some new players to their existing squad.
What did Thomas Tuchel say?
Speaking in an interview with Skyport after Chelsea’s hard-fought win over Everton at Goodison Park, The German said: “I think if we can add to the squad we add.
“Maybe not necessarily a midfielder as a first option but we’re open for everything.
“I think we can use new energy, new legs, and fresh input to bring us to a new level.
“If not, then we will push this team but I think we could use some more input and some more quality. We’re on it but we will not tell you [who].”
Thomas Tuchel recorded his first victory at Merseyside and stressed that it was important for the team to win and build their confidence as the season progresses.
“It’s always about the win when you play Premier League. A win is a win and it’s most important because it’s what we play for. It’s important to build confidence, belief, and the atmosphere, and also to be open to improvement and criticism because there are a lot of things to improve.
“There are also a lot of good things to take away. We have struggled in the last years to steal the points here and win and today we got all three and a clean sheet. From here we go.”
Thomas Tuchel added that Chelsea is a team in progress and does not want to put pressure on the team as they prepare to compete with Manchester City and Liverpool.
The Chelsea coach said:: “I struggle a little bit to keep our ambitions down. I don’t want to lower our ambitions. I struggle also a little bit to put the pressure on us and say yes we can (close the gap) because I believe we are a club in transition, still.
“We are a team in transition still. At the same time, I don’t want to limit us from the beginning and say it is not possible because who knows what is possible? For me, it is possible in both directions so we should be humble and try hard to be the best version of ourselves.
“I can only speak for us, we have the capacity to win consecutive football games in the Premier League. This is what we try to do. We are well aware of the quality of Liverpool and Man City.
I am well aware of the quality of Tottenham, Arsenal, and Man United. This is normally one, two teams step up surprisingly maybe, and overperform.
“This is the Premier League, which is why it is so exciting. I don’t want to limit our expectations right now. At the same time, I don’t want to put too much pressure on us. I don’t think we are anywhere in the moment where this helps us.”
