An Alaska Native community that was threatened by a wildfire has been forced to evacuate as a result of the high winds that have been blowing in western Alaska.
The East Fork Fire was within eight miles of St. Mary’s, Alaska, according to the information that was provided by the Alaska Fire Service of the United States Bureau of Land Management.
Around 50,000 acres of land have been destroyed by the fire, with around 5,000 acres of that area being on the west side of the Andreafsky River alone. On Tuesday afternoon, the flames crossed the river and spread to the opposite bank.
