The Supreme Court is considering a religious liberty case involving high school coaches’ on-field prayers.

The Supreme Court has previously ruled that teacher-led prayers are unconstitutional.

High school football players who have benefited from Joseph Kennedy’s guidance throughout the years have described him as a “big brother” type.

As a coach, I can recall the hundreds of times I exhorted my players to persevere, no matter how daunting the task at hand seemed to them.

Although that may appear to be an understatement, he has been fighting for religious liberty in a case that has carried him to the Supreme Court in a matter regarding the public expression of his beliefs.

The nine-member Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Monday about whether the Bremerton High School district was legally justified in disciplining Kennedy after he refused to stop praying after a game.
