The body of Queen Elizabeth II was moved from Balmoral to Holyroodhouse palace in Edinburgh, Scotland. Mourners lined the streets as part of a solemn farewell to a monarch who ruled for 70 years. On Sunday, the rest of the United Kingdom made public their acceptance of King Charles III as their new monarch.
A protester arrived in Edinburgh brandishing a sign that condemned imperialism and called for the abolition of the monarchy. She was taken into custody not long after police arrived on the scene.
The fact that people booed members of the royal family during King Charles III’s declaration was “simply dreadful”. The coffin of Queen Elizabeth II will return to Scotland on Monday. It will be taken from Holyroodhouse to St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh. The funeral service for the head of state will be held at Westminster Abbey on September 19, 2015. In India, flags were flown at half-staff across the country on Sunday.
