According to the proprietor of a tactical gear business in New York City, his customers purchase body armor so that they can protect themselves from armed robberies and other forms of violence.
Although it is against the law for anyone in the state of New York to obtain a bulletproof vest, the body armor that the shooter who killed 10 people at a supermarket in Buffalo wore is not outlawed under the new law.
On May 14th, Payton Gendron was seen wearing a vest that was made of steel and had a steel plating over it. Because he was clad in armor, the handgun round that was shot at him by a store security guard who was attempting to thwart the attack missed its intended target and did not inflict him any injury.

As a direct response to the incident, lawmakers in the state have decided to ban the sale of “bullet-resistant soft body armor.”
Vests made of soft materials are not only comfortable but also light and resistant to guns.
