According to a source, the two teenagers who were shot outside Rep. Lee Zeldin’s home while the Republican candidate for governor of New York’s twin daughters was at home alone have been identified.
Joel Murphy and Elijah Robinson, both 17, of Mastic, Long Island, were identified as the teen victims by the New York Post on Monday. When reached by phone about the report, the Suffolk County Police Department declined to confirm the identities of the victims.
The shooting in Shirley left both young victims with gunshot wounds to the chest, according to the Post, quoting police, with Murphy also suffering a lacerated liver and Robinson suffering an arm wound.
A “high-ranking” law enforcement source told the media that the young victims were “known to the department” and had been in a recording studio on a reserve in Suffolk County renowned for gang activity.
