The man stumbled and fell beneath one of the highest ex-railroad trusses in the United States.
Over the Memorial Day weekend, a 19-year-old male in Washington state survived after falling down a 400-foot canyon beneath a famous bridge, according to officials.
According to the Mascon County Sheriff’s Office, the guy fell on Saturday while attempting to cross one of the highest railroad crossings in the country, the High Steel Bridge. The Washington Trails Association (WTA) states that it was constructed in 1929 by the Simpson Logging Company and turned into a road in the 1950s or 1960s.
“He was strolling along a washout that is often used and has taken on the characteristics of a path. Matthew Welander, the fire chief for West Mason, told KING 5 that “it’s not a trail.” “It’s too steep and a washout.” And he eventually went sliding all the way down to the river.”
