Broderick Stephen Harvey Sr. was born in Welch, West Virginia, in the United States of America, to Eloise Harvey and Jesse Harvey, a coal miner, on January 17, 1957. Steve started as a stand-up comedian. Where he first performed at the Hilarities Comedy Club in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 8, 1985. At the start of his career, he was homeless. When he wasn’t playing gigs that gave him a hotel and a shower at a gas station or a swimming pool, he would sleep in his 1976 Ford. He was a finalist in the Second Annual Johnnie Walker National Comedy Search. He performed on April 16, 1990, which led him to a long term as host of Its Showtime at the Apollo.
