‘Mainers, choose a winner—choose Austin Theriault,’ Johnson urged.
FIRST ON FOX: The new House Speaker endorsed a former NASCAR driver-turned-GOP congressional candidate in Maine.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., has endorsed Republican congressional candidate Austin Theriault in his bid to unseat Democratic Maine Rep. Jared Golden.
Johnson urged Mainers to vote for Theriault, a former NASCAR driver, describing him as a successful and “hardworking public servant.”
“Mainers, please send Austin Theriault to Congress so that he can fight for you,” Johnson said Tuesday on Fox News Digital. “I’m supporting Austin because he’s a dedicated public servant with a proven track record of success.”
“His rural Maine values have shaped him and his character, and I know he’ll do everything in his power to improve Mainers’ lives.” Austin will hold failed leaders Joe Biden and Jared Golden accountable, and he is the best option to defeat Jared Golden in November.
“Elect a winner, Mainers — elect Austin Theriault.”

“Speaker Johnson is fighting for rural conservative values,” said Theriault, a Maine state legislator, and he welcomes the support.
“Joe Biden and Jared Golden have failed to make life better for Mainers,” Theriault stated. “I’m excited to defend the interests of the working class by giving Maine’s 2nd congressional district new, dynamic, capable, and assertive leaders.
“Come along as we strive to keep Maine’s working class prosperous. It’s time to take action to prevent the out-of-touch elites from harming our communities in the future and to actively work toward a better, more affluent society.”
With Theriault’s endorsement, he is vying for Golden’s seat in the House, which is anticipated to be one of the most competitive this cycle.
The campaign of the former NASCAR driver revealed last week on Twitter that it had “raised more than $355K in the first 3-month fundraising period” since he entered the car.
