A building partially collapsed at Yale University in Connecticut on Friday, injuring several individuals. The New Haven building was under construction at the time of the disaster.
Some of those rescued were injured, according to a representative for Mayor Justin Elicker. The extent of their injuries was not disclosed. Elicker later stated at a press conference that seven individuals were injured, two of them seriously.
In a campus notice issued just after 1 p.m. local time, Yale described it as a “building construction accident,” noting that Lafayette Street was closed between Church Street South and Congress Avenue.
