Sekondi-Takoradi Mayor died of coronavirus – Akufo-Addo confirms

President Akufo-Addo has confirmed that the Mayor for the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis, Anthony K. K. Sam whose sudden demise was reported some few days ago, died of coronavirus.

The President made this known in his 11th address to the nation while touching on measures put in place by government to curb the spread of the virus.

His driver, according to our sources tested positive for the novel coronavirus, and therefore he (Anthony K.K Sam) and the driver were all isolated for a while.

The mayor and his driver have been in isolation till his passing.

Currently Ghana’s Covid-19 cases stands at 11,964, according to the President .

4258 persons with the virus have recovered and some 54 persons with underlying sickness have also died.
