On Tuesday, the president of the Washington State Fraternal Order of Police warned that “enough is enough” as the city of Seattle struggles with having the fewest police officers on duty in the past 30 years.
According to Marco Monteblanco, he feels that a greater number of officers are leaving the force or retiring as a result of the negative public perception of their profession during the past several years.
According to the media, Monteblanco mentioned Seattle’s long history of underfunding the police department and the persistent lack of support from the media and local leaders for an undervalued police force.
Monteblanco told the broadcasters, Carley Shimkus and Todd Piro, “They’re frustrated, and they’re quitting their departments in droves.”
