Early Life And Education

Samuel McDowell, also known as Samuel Little, was an American serial killer who killed 93 women between 1970 and 2005. He admitted to killing them all. He was born on June 7, 1940, in Reynolds, Georgia, United States of America, under the zodiac sign of Gemini, with the nationality of American and black ethnicity.

His grandmother raised him after his family moved from Reynolds, Georgia, to Lorain, Ohio, in the United States. He went to Hawthorne Junior High School and graduated there but needed help with discipline and getting good grades there.
He began reading sexual fiction about strangling women as a child. He started collecting true crime magazines about women who choked during his childhood.

In 1956, he was held in an institution for juvenile offenders after he got accused of breaking into someone’s property in Omaha, Nebraska. In the late 1960s, he moved to Florida, where he worked at various times as a cemetery worker and an ambulance attendant. In eight states, he got detained for drunk driving, fraud, shoplifting, solicitation, armed robbery, aggravated assault, and rape. He claimed that at that point, he “started traveling more and getting into more trouble with the government.”

Crimes

Samuel was sentenced to three years in 1961 and released in 1964 for breaking into a Lorain furniture store. By 1975, he had been detained 26 times in eleven states for offenses such as robbery, assault, sex offenses, fraud, and attacks on public servants. In late 1961, he was arrested again in Pascagoula, Mississippi, for the murder of 22-year-old Melinda Rose LaPree, who went missing in September of that year. He was released after a grand jury decided not to indict him for her death. While he was under investigation, Samuel got deported to Florida, where he was charged with the murder of Patricia Ann Mount, 26, whose body was discovered on September 8, 1982.
Witnesses for the prosecution testified in court that he was present when Mount was last seen the night before.

Little was set free in January 1984 because the judge didn’t believe what the witnesses said. He moved to California. In October 1984, he was also arrested for the kidnapping, beating, and strangling of 22-year-old Laurie Barros, who survived. A month later, after his arrest, he was found by the police in the back of his car with an unconscious, beaten woman who had been beaten and choked in the same place where Barros was almost killed. He got sentenced to two and a half years for his crime.

When he exited prison in February 1987, he went straight to Los Angeles, killing at least ten more people. He was also again arrested on September 5, 2012. After his arrest on September 5, 2012, and deportation to California to answer to a drug charge, law enforcement used DNA evidence to prove that he was accountable for the murders of Linda Alford, who was killed on July 13, 1987; Guadalupe Duarte Apodaca, who was killed on September 3, 1987; and Audrey Nelson Everett, who was killed on August 14, 1989. The bodies of all three women were found on the streets of Los Angeles.

After being extradited to Los Angeles, he was charged on January 7, 2013. A few months later, the police said they were looking into Little because they thought he was involved in 30 unreported murders in the 1980s. LaPree’s murder case got revived in light of the recent developments in Mississippi. Little got tested to see if he was involved in the deaths of 93 women in many U.S. states.

Later Confessions

Samuel Little made several confessions after she was sentenced to life imprisonment without payroll. On November 9, 2018, he admitted to killing Melissa Thomas by strangling her in 1996. On November 13, 2018, he was charged with killing Denise Christie Brothers in 1994 in Odessa. He also confessed to having murdered 93 civilians across 14 states.

According to the FBI, on November 27, 2018, little admitted to killing the following people: 23-year-old Brenda Alexander, 55-year-old Dorothy Richards, 40-year-old Daisy McGuire, 36-year-old Julia Critchfield, 46-year-old Nancy Carol Stevens, 19-year-old Evelyn Weston, 20-year-old Rosie Hill, Linda Sue Boards, 23, and several other victims whose identities were not identified at that time. He gave sketches of some of his victims, but not all of these people were shown to be connected to specific public killings.

Trial And Imprisonment

In September 2014, Samuel was imprisoned for the killings of Alford, Nelson, and Apodaca. The prosecution showed DNA evidence in addition to the testimony of witnesses who the defendant had attacked at different times during his criminal career.

On September 25, 2014, he was found guilty and given a life sentence without the possibility of parole. He maintained his innocence even on the day of the judgment. Samuel was imprisoned at the California State Prison in Los Angeles County when he passed away on December 30, 2020. Even though sources from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation do not, however, conclude what killed Samuel, he had diabetes, heart problems, and other health problems.
