The Chinese and Russian militaries have agreed to strengthen their ties and collaborate more actively in the future.
At a meeting in Moscow on Tuesday, Chinese General Li Shangfu and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu agreed to the initiative.
The purpose of the international meeting, according to Li, was to “demonstrate to the outside world the high level of China-Russia relations and the determination to strengthen strategic cooperation between the two militaries.”

Vladimir Kara-Murza, a member of the Russian opposition, was found guilty of treason on Monday and given a 25-year prison term for speaking out against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine at the start of the conflict last year.
Kara-Murza was initially detained in April of last year after traveling back to Moscow from Arizona, where he had delivered a lecture to the state House of Representatives. Kara-Murza has survived two poisoning attempts that he attributes to Putin.
