He was the bassist when the progressive rock group Pink Floyd was co-founded in 1965. Waters took over as the group’s lyricist, co-lead vocalist, and creative leader after singer-songwriter Syd Barrett left in 1968 and left the group in 1985.
Pink Floyd attained worldwide success with the concept albums Animals (1977), Wish You Were Here (1975), The Wall (1979), The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), and The Final Cut (1983).
