According to a Tuesday report, Roberto Firmino joined Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli as a free agent after his contract with Liverpool expiration at the end of last season.
The 31-year-old forward has joined former Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy at the Jeddah-based club on a three-year contract.
The Brazilian forward played at Anfield for eight years, netting 110 goals in 361 games.
Firmino won seven trophies with Liverpool, including the 2019 Champions League and the club’s inaugural Premier League championship in 2020.
In recent months, Saudi Arabian clubs have pursued an aggressive recruitment strategy, convincing some of the sport’s biggest names to sign lucrative contracts with teams in the country — Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr in January and Karim Benzema departed Real Madrid for Al Ittihad this month.
Last season, Al Ahli won the Saudi First Division League to earn promotion back to the Saudi Pro League for the 2023-24 season.
