Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand claims Manchester United Loanee Amad Diallo is not ready for a place in the Erik Ten Hag team.
Manchester United signed Amad Diallo for £40 million from Atalanta on a five-year deal. The Ivorian international made 8 appearances from Manchester United in the 2020/2021 season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 19-year-old forward was loaned to Ranger in Scottish Premier League but failed to break into their starting lineup. He scored 3 goals in 13 appearances for Rangers in all competition.
Amad Dialo was included in the Manchester United squad for Pre-season Tour in Asia. But Rio Ferdinand believes the 19-year-old is not ready to be part of the Manchester United squad given his experience and his failed loan spell at Rangers.
What did Rio Ferdinand say about Amad Diallo’s inclusion in the Manchester United Squad?
The former Manchester United and England Legend said on his YouTube channel the Vibe with Five, saying: “Unfortunately, he just isn’t ready.
“He just isn’t ready.
“He went to Rangers, couldn’t get into the team and affect their team, which tells you he’s not near getting into the Man United team. Do you know what I mean?
“Plus, again, is he the right player? He hasn’t got that explosive pace that they’re maybe looking for, he’s more of a player with a bit more guile, who likes to come to the ball and create like that, rather than running onto things and behind and stuff like that.
“I just think it’s a bit too early for someone like him to come in and take that mantle on. Yes, I don’t think he’s near enough to the first-team squad.
“If he’d have gone to Rangers and smashed it at Rangers then he’d have had a chance.
“But because he did nothing, he’s going to be a little bit off it and he’s someone we will look to loan out, I’d say.”
Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has named two transfer targets for Manchester United to sign.
According to Rio Ferdinand Manchester, the United recruitment team should prioritize the signing of England midfield duo Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham this summer.
Rio Ferdinand added: “[Rice] brings an element that I think has been lacking at Man Utd, and I think it’s… for one so young… leadership and character.
“Similar could be said about Bellingham, the character, the fact he’s gone to another country at such a young age, 17, 18 years old, and lit the world alight.
“The other stuff, the football stuff is brilliant, yeah, and you’ve got to have a certain level of that – I understand – but the overriding factor is the character.
“Them two are the standouts in that sense.”
