ESPN has compiled a list of the best 100 sportsmen of the twenty-first century, and Charles Woodson, a former defensive back and Raiders great and NFL Hall of Famer, has made the list.
Woodson narrowly made the cut at No. 100 when ESPN unveiled the athletes’ rankings on Monday, which went from No. 100 to 76. Woodson is very definitely deserving of the distinction.
Woodson was the 2009 Defensive Player of the Year, a nine-time Pro Bowler, and a three-time first-team All-Pro. In addition, he was included in the Hall of Fame All-2000s Team.
He had a total of 11 seasons with the Raiders, where he was a member of the first team All-Pro and won five Pro Bowls.
Woodson spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Raiders after being selected in the first round in 1998. After that, he spent seven seasons as a player with the Green Bay Packers, where he was selected to the first team All-Pro and made four more trips to the Pro Bowl.
After playing for three seasons with the Raiders after his time in Green Bay, Woodson went on to make an outstanding impression by being selected to the Pro Bowl in his last season (2015). He was in the 2021 class of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
