Gareth Southgate’s men came back from 2 goals down to draw 3-3 with Germany. İlkay Gündoğan and Kai Havertz gave Germany a two-goal lead in the second half. England drew level through Luke Shaw and Mason Mount.

Reece James admitted after the game that the performance of Mason Mount did not surprise him after he replaced Raheem Sterling in the second half.
What did Reece James say about Mason Mount’s performance?
On performing Mason Mount, Reece James said: “I don’t really have to talk too much about Mason. For the last three years, everyone can see how good he is and what he provides. Whenever he gets a chance, he likes to bring the best he can and provide for the team.”
Reece James also added Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw will bounce back after a difficult start to the season.
“I think when you’re playing and you make a mistake, you don’t need to be told. I feel like you’re experienced enough to know you’ve made a mistake and you don’t need to be told.
“Harry hasn’t been playing too much this season. He’s still finding his rhythm. We know the quality he has. There are no doubts. It’s just a little step up and I’m sure they (Maguire and Pope) will bounce back and be stronger.”
Harry Maguire’s mistake led to Germany’s first goal after the Manchester United skipper fouled Musiala.
Asked about Harry Maguire’s mistake and his current situation at Manchester United, Gareth Southgate said: “I know everyone will focus on Harry, but there were some very important moments that Harry delivered during the two matches.
“Luke Shaw was another example of somebody [who delivered moments]. He’s an outstanding footballer.
“So, what do we do? Not pick Luke Shaw because he’s not playing enough football, or do we pick a player who can do what we saw tonight?
“That’s always going to raise debate, but I think in these moments we’ve got to back our best and our most experienced players unless we’re in a situation where it’s almost untenable and impossible to pick them.”
Harry Maguire has lost his place in Manchester United’s starting lineup after failing to impress in his first two games for Manchester United under Erik Ten Hag.
There are also calls that Erik Ten Hag should strip Harry Maguire of Manchester United captaincy.
