According to a source who spoke with ABC News, a suspect is being held in relation to five random stabbings that have happened in Queens in recent days.

The event transpires only hours after law enforcement declared they were looking for a suspect in the attacks.

The attacks were described as “senseless, unprovoked attacks” by NYPD Police Commissioner Edward Caban during a news briefing earlier on Wednesday.

The victims of the random attacks were unrelated, and the suspect was seen carrying a hunting knife on camera just after one of the attacks, according to the police. According to the authorities, none of the wounds were potentially fatal.

In the first attack, which happened on January 8 at around 6:20 p.m. ET, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny said. According to Kenny, a 61-year-old guy was stabbed in the lower back while out on his own in the Springfield Gardens area.

After stabbing the victim, “the suspect actually laughed in his face,” Kenny said to reporters.

According to Kenny, the sufferer was taken to a nearby hospital when a kind person contacted 911.

According to authorities, the second incident happened at Springfield Gardens on Tuesday just after midnight, about one week later. According to authorities, a 34-year-old lady was heading home when a guy approached her from behind and used a knife to stab her in the right side. According to Kenny, the assailant seemed to be talking “jibberish” to himself.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, and the attacker made off on foot, according to the police.

Within an hour of one another, three stabbings happened on Wednesday morning, according to the police.

Around 7:30 a.m., two victims in Springfield Gardens were attacked, according to the police. According to Kenny, a 74-year-old guy who was accompanying his wife to work was stabbed in the back. “Without saying a word,” the attacker stabbed the 41-year-old guy in the abdomen as he rushed down the street, according to Kenny.

Twenty-five minutes later, according to Kenny, the suspect and a thirty-six-year-old male who was on his way to work got into a fight over a seat on a bus. According to Kenny, the victim was stabbed by the culprit as they both got off the bus in Jamaica.

“We have confirmed that the perpetrator in all of these incidents is connected,” stated Kenny.

Authorities said they are also looking into the possibility that the male suspect is connected to the stabbing that happened on a Brooklyn subway train on Wednesday morning.

About 9:20 a.m., a guy approached a 28-year-old passenger on a southbound J subway train in Williamsburg and unprovokedly stabbed him in the abdomen, according to police.

The suspect got off a stop later at the Flushing Avenue station, according to police, while the victim got off at the Myrtle Avenue station and was brought to Kings County Hospital Center in stable condition.

In response to the stabbings on Wednesday, the New York Police Department deployed more police to the 113th Precinct in Queens and flooded the subway system with cops.

Authorities had described the suspect as a guy donning a black sweatshirt, a green jacket, and possibly black and white Adidas sneakers or white Converse. According to the authorities, he was spotted wearing a surgical mask and a lanyard in several of the incidents.
