Dana Elaine Owens, professionally known as Queen Latifah on numerous social media platforms and in the entertainment industry, is a well-known American female rapper, actress, and talk show host. The film producer was born on March 18, 1970, in Newark, New Jersey, United States of America, under the zodiac sign Pisces, with the nationality of American and of black descent.
She was born to Rita Lamae, a teacher at Irvington High School, and Lancelot Amos Owens, a police officer. Latifah attended Essex Catholic Girls’ High School in Irvington and Catholic school in Newark, New Jersey, but did not complete her high school education there. She transferred to Irvington High School, where she graduated.
After high school, she took classes at Borough of Manhattan Community College. She derived the name Latifah from a book of Arabic words when she was eight; it means “delicate” and “very kind.”

Music Career
Latifah began beatboxing in the late 1980s for Ladies Fresh, the hip-hop group and was a founding member of the Flavor Unit, a group of M.C.s led by producer DJ King Gemini. At that time.
