Purbi Joshi was born to actor Pravin Joshi and actress Sarita Joshi at a private hospital in Mumbai, India, on August 19, 1974. According to her birthday, she was born under Leo’s astrological sign. She holds Indian nationality and is of white descent.

Purbi began her career as a model for brands including Happy Dent Gum, Nirma washing powder, and Thompson Television. She starred in the Doordarshan television series Dishayein. She played the part of a twin sister. Purbi received her first opportunity in 1995 on the television program Faasle Purbi.
In 2008, she participated in the celebrity talent competition Mr. & Miss TV, which she won and was crowned “Miss TV.” Her most prominent association is with the Comedy Circus. Purbi hosted multiple seasons of Comedy Circus and served as a featured performer. Purbi also appeared in Ghoom, the first parody of the Bollywood franchise Dhoom produced by MTV India.
