Purbi began her career as a model for brands including Happy Dent Gum, Nirma washing powder, and Thompson Television. She starred in the Doordarshan television series Dishayein. She played the part of a twin sister. Purbi received her first opportunity in 1995 on the television program Faasle Purbi.
In 2008, she participated in the celebrity talent competition Mr. & Miss TV, which she won and was crowned “Miss TV.” Her most prominent association is with the Comedy Circus.
