While growing up in Canarsie, he attended nine different schools. Pop used to play African drums in his local church when he was a child.
Pop was suspended from school in eighth grade for bringing a gun to school. He was also arrested for two years after being accused of illegally possessing weapons.
In addition to his musical interests, he was a fantastic basketball player. Pop moved to Philadelphia to join Rocktop Academy to pursue his basketball career. But soon, he was diagnosed with a heart murmur, so he had to leave the academy and return to his old routine.

Pop began his music career in 2018 after visiting a Brooklyn recording studio with fellow rapper Jay Gwaupo.
Before releasing original tracks, he used to produce mixtapes of hit songs by other artists using beats from YouTube.
In April 2019, Pop signed to Universal Music’s Victor Victor Worldwide, and on April 23, 2019, he released his first single, Welcome to the Party, produced by 808Melo, which became a major hit.
Two versions of this song featuring Nicki Minaj and Skepta were later released.
On July 26, 2019, Pop released his debut mixtape, Meet the Woo, Pop released many singles from October to December, including War with Lil Tjay and 100K on a Coupe with Calboy.
He was featured in Travis Scott’s single Gatti, which peaked at number 69 on the US Billboard 100 on December 27, 2019.

Pop Smoke Death
Bashar Barakah famously known as Pop Smoke died when he was only 20. Pop Smoke had starred in the Hollywood picture Boogie before his death.
He was murdered on February 19, 2020 during a tragic home invasion robbery. At 4:30 A.M, five hooded males entered the residence through a second-story balcony, including one wearing a ski mask and carrying a weapon. The attackers threatened to shoot a woman in the head with a gun. According to the woman, the men shot Pop three times after a dispute.
After the incident, police arrived and found Jackson with several gunshot wounds. After being taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, doctors performed a thoracotomy on the left side of his chest.
A few hours later, the doctors declared him dead. On February 21, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed that Jackson died of a gunshot wound to the torso.
Rapper Pop Smoke was put to rest in Greenwood Cemetery.
Sadly, the suspects have not been arrested and have not been recognized so far. It is unsure whether Pop Smoke knew his attackers.
