According to local and federal authorities, a Tennessee man convicted of raping women and children has escaped prison on his second try, and is now being sought.
Sean Williams, the former owner of Glass and Concrete Contracting LLC in Johnson City, was recently charged in three distinct cases in Washington County with 20 charges of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of child rape, and three counts of sexual battery. He is also charged with dozens of federal counts of child sexual abuse.
U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Tennessee David Jolley told Fox News Digital, “The U.S. Marshal Service, along with the FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, are working closely with local law enforcement agencies in the area to continue ground-search efforts to determine if he’s still on foot in the area and see what other leads we come up with.” “We’re still taking calls from the public regarding potential sightings. Since yesterday at noon, all of them have been questionable conduct unconnected to Sean Williams.”
“During travel, it appears that the prisoner was able to use a component of the van’s headrest to free himself from his hand restraints, then pry the protective screening and force the side window out of the rear of the transport vehicle,” Jamie Mosley, a jailer in Laurel County, said in an update. “He then escaped the vehicle through the window area; he was spotted moments later covered with blood in the Davis Street area of Greenville, TN.”
Mosley continued, saying that federal and local authorities are seeking after Williams and that the Laurel County Correctional Center will “review, train, and strategically analyze the situation in its entirety to minimize the potential for another occurrence.” According to Jolley, the suspect attempted an escape in July and was moved from another jail in North Carolina to the Laurel County facility.
In a news release on Wednesday, the USMS for the Eastern District of Tennessee stated, “Williams is desperate to escape custody and has attempted previously.” A conviction might mean life in jail for him.
“Everyone,” according to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, should “please be on the lookout.”
On Wednesday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) declared a $2,500 reward for information leading to the suspect’s capture.
