Surprisingly, Dolphins player Tyreek Hill enjoyed the atmosphere at Sunday’s Copa America final, when thousands of spectators were crammed into a crush and mayhem ensued.
Due to fans trapped in horrific events outside Hard Rock Stadium, the match between Colombia and Argentina had to be postponed.
Fans broke past stadium gates, climbed through air vents, and allegedly detained a number of people, several of whom needed medical attention.
However, Hill praised the “energy” at Hard Rock Stadium, home of Dolphins games during the NFL season, despite the devastation in Miami.
“Last night, the energy in that stadium was insane!” Hill posted on social media on Monday, saying, “I loved it.”
Argentina achieved a record 16th Copa America title with a 1-0 victory in the game after extra time. But the anarchy that engulfed the fans soured the game.
‘Outraged’ was Miami Mayor Daniella Levine Cava at the alarming crowd difficulties that resulted in supporters breaking through security barriers.
Social media videos showed spectators dashing past police officers and stadium staff and vaulting over security fences close to the stadium’s southwest entrance.
Screams could be heard in the background of video taken inside the stadium as a result of the extreme crowding.
The stadium is scheduled to host the 2026 World Cup, but the images have raised concerns that the US may not be prepared for the millions of spectators that will arrive for the world’s largest athletic event.
