When Laylo and his mother were getting ready to leave for the airport, someone on a UPenn campus opened fire on their Uber.
According to the most recent reports, an attorney working for the Philippine government was killed over the past weekend in Philadelphia when he was riding in an Uber on his way to the airport. The incident reportedly took place on a Saturday. On the first day of the work week, Monday, it was unclear what precipitated the gunshot that took place.
Attorney John Albert Laylo and his mother were shot at roughly 4:10 a.m. on Saturday as they were stopped at a red light close to the University of Pennsylvania, according to the police. The perpetrator in the black vehicle remained anonymous. Laylo needed to get to Philadelphia International Airport in time for their trip, so they left their home and headed in that direction.
According to the police, Laylo received a gunshot wound to the back of the head before being taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead the following morning. As of the early hours of Monday, there have been no arrests reported.
“Too many guns. There are far too many firearms in both the state of the Philippines and the city of Philadelphia. This is true regardless of whether one is visiting from the Philippines or is a native Philadelphian.” Democratic Mayor Jim Kenney of Philadelphia stated on Sunday that the authorities had confirmed the incident.
