The Premier League is getting more intense and exciting on the top as Manchester City and Manchester United close in on Leaders Arsenal.
The Gunners reduce their grip on the top after dropping points against Everton and Brentford. Arsenal are now leading Manchester City by two points with a game in hand.
Arsenal will host Manchester City at the Emirate on Wednesday night in a possible title decider. A defeat for Arsenal means Manchester City will go top of the Premier League for the first this season.
Paul Merson has admitted that, looking at the form Arsenal are in now, he will be surprised if they beat Manchester City.
What did Paul Merson Say?
He said on SkySports: “It’s a massive football match. I think it’s make or break. If Man City go and win the game, I don’t see Arsenal coming back from that.
“I don’t see them beating Man City on Wednesday. I’d be quite shocked. They were so open at the back [against Brentford]. Played 2v2 at the back.
“If Brentford had picked the right pass at times, they’d have got in and won that game.
“Ivan Toney misses a real good chance where he hits the bar, and Man City have a better quality of player to pick that right pass.
“Come Wednesday night I’d be quite shocked if Arsenal went and won that game.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal Legend Ian Wright believes the Gunners will be ready for Manchester City on Wednesday.
The forward Arsenal striker said on BBC Sports: “We saw what he [Haaland] can do with his stretching of the team, which is something that can cause problems, but it was always going to be a tough game for Arsenal.
“We’ve seen what City are capable of without Haaland. It’s a game that Arsenal needs to win, they need to win their home games, and City are coming there now knowing if they win that game, they’ll go top.
“Pep’s talking about it’s still early, but they know this terrain; they know what they need to be doing. But I think Arsenal will be ready for them.
“Arsenal will be looking forward to this game. It was unfortunate against Brentford how that turned out but I think the point is good enough. This is the kind of game to get yourself going again.”
Ian Wright’s co-pundit Jermaine Jenas has revealed that he expects Pep Guardiola to play a natural four-back formation against Arsenal on Wednesday.
He added: “As beautiful as it was today, they can’t play three against Arsenal. Not with [Gabriel] Martinelli and [Bukayo] Saka and what they can do.
“It will be a more conventional four with maybe Nathan Ake at left-back to sure things up on that side.”
