Paris Saint-Germain is interested in landing Romelu Lukaku next season.
The Belgian striker, who rejoined Chelsea from Serie A champions Inter Milan in a deal just shy of £100m, is said to be unhappy at Chelsea after a spat with manager Thomas Tuchel. Lukaku has lost his place in the team in recent weeks to Kai Havertz after a bad run of form that saw him fail to contribute to Chelsea’s game plan and, as a result, struggles to score goals. The Belgian has failed to replicate his goal-scoring form last season, where he scored 30 goals in all competitions, he has only found the net on 12 occasions in all competitions this term – just five of those strikes coming in the Premier League. The situation escalated back in January after the former Everton man’s much-publicized comments during a bombshell interview – for which he was dubbed “disrespectful” by club legend Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink – with manager Thomas Tuchel seemingly yet to fully trust his marquee arrival, leading to speculation about a possible move at the end of the season.
According to Football Insider, PSG is prepared to offer the 28-year-old a way out this summer.
The French league leaders are set to lose Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer when his contract runs out, with Barcelona recently seeking to sabotage the Frenchman’s long-awaited move to Real Madrid.
This would allow PSG to reconfigure their attack in the hopes of avoiding another humiliating Champions League exit next season.
The striker had expressed his desire to play for PSG back in 2016 in an interview with GQ Magazine before moving to Manchester United. He said”PSG is a big club, with a magnificent project and a world-class workforce. But everything is in the hands of my agent.”
