Borthakur’s first film, Nayak, was filmed in her home state of Assam. Her first television appearance was as Gogi in Pritam Pyare Aur Woh, which aired on SAB TV. She has appeared in famous Bollywood films such as Force, Chalo Dilli, and Kurbaan. She played Sharmishta Bose in the 2015 season of Swaragini on Colors TV. In 2017, she portrayed Vasundhra Suryavanshi in Zee TV’s Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani. The same year, she co-starred in the Assamese film Gaane Ki Aane alongside Zubeen Garg. She plays Anjana Hooda in the 2018 season of Bepannaah on Colors TV.
In 2020, she launched the cosmetics brand Nyor, and in January of that year, she presented the Indian market with the first vegan and paraben-free, highly pigmented lip plumpers.
